Igniting the Spark of Life in people with dementia

North America

The Spark of Life Philosophy was first presented in the year 2000 at the inaugural Alzheimer’s International Congress in Washington DC. Since then the philosophy has been presented at numerous national and international conferences and courses in USA including Alaska and Canada.

The Spark of Life Club Program was endorsed as recommended best practice both by the Wisconsin Adult Day Services Association (WADSA) and in a collaborative study between the Wisconsin Bureau of Aging and Disability Resources and the Wisconsin Office of Quality Assurance in 2004.

With the availability of the International Spark of Life Master Course from 2010, organisations in Denver and Chicago have taken the opportunity of having their own Spark of Life Master Practitioner/s.
