Igniting the Spark of Life in people with dementia

The Aged Care & Service Centre – On the Journey to Become a Spark of Life Centre of Excellence.

In this organisation, 25 volunteers support 950 older people and their families in 10 villages surrounding Nakonde.  Some of these villages are based as far away as 70 kilometres and can only be reached by motorcycle.

Anderson Simfukwe, Spark of Life Master Practitioner

Anderson gave up a full time job as a head teacher to pursue his passion for social justice for people with dementia. He is the Founder and Executive Director of his own pioneering organisation, The Aged Care & Service Centre in Nakonde.

The Spark of Life Philosophy has enabled Anderson and his volunteers to connect in new  ways with people who have dementia and their supportive partners with heart-warming results.

Mary Mutambo,  Spark of Life Master Practitioner
